With the onset of autumn the children and staff have had fun harvesting the remaining crops that they have grown in the garden. The garden has given the children a great opportunity to explore the outdoors and look at how things grow. We look forward to next season.

Before we start even thinking about Christmas the children had the opportunity to explore their senses and to become a superhero for Children in Need. The children also had the opportunity to take part in activities to make poppies for Remembrance Day.

With December fast approaching and Christmas coming into sight the Pre-school children have drawn a picture of themselves to go on to the Puddleducks tea towel. If you have not placed an order and would still like to do so then please speak with Sarah.

The preschool children are already in rehearsals for the annual nativity play, this year we are performing the more traditional story ‘The Nativity’ and we look forward to performing it in front of our families and friends.

Please look out for the information letters as these will contain all the details you need.

Parents Evening 23rd and 24th November

Parents evening is a great way of catching up on what your child/children have been doing whist in our care. It is a time for you to look through their learning story and to talk about their learning and development.

Look out for the signup sheet in group.

Management Committee Update

Following our AGM in October,  Puddleducks Management Committee is now in full swing. I would like to thank staff and fellow Committee members for their help  and patience during this transitional period.

WHITSUN WEEK

Welcome  back!

Welcome back to the start of another academic year at Puddleducks.

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new children and their parents/carers to Puddleducks and hope you all feel settled very quickly. Please do not hesitate to talk with your child’s key person if you have any questions.

We would also like to say a big ‘hello and welcome back’ to the children and their parents/carers who were with us last term and we hope you have all enjoyed the summer break.

First of all we would like to say a very big ‘thank you’ to all of our families who generously gave gifts of chocolate, biscuits and cakes at the end of the summer term, it was very much appreciated.

Over the summer break we have had the decorators in and the Jubilee room is now looking clean and fresh again. The playhouse in the garden has also undergone a revamp and is looking a lot brighter and more inviting for us to play in. Thank you Kerry for painting the playhouse and making it look great.

We are pleased to welcome Anna, Ruth and Kim to the staff team and we will be welcoming back Clara a student from Norwich City College.

This term our topic is ‘Me and My Family’, during the next 7 weeks we will be looking at our body, using our senses, exploring our emotions, good manners, making new friends and talking about our families. We will have lots of activities that will allow us to explore the playgroup environment and encourage us to make new friends and feel secure within the playgroup environment.

During this half term the children will also be helping to create a display for the Bi-annual Swardeston Flower Festival. Look out for more information soon.

We will also continue planting our eco garden with lots of lovely vegetables and soft fruit plants and we are looking forward to eating the fruits of our labour!!

Do you have a spare hour? We need help to keep on top of the weeds in the eco and sensory area and to help with the planting of seeds. If so speak with Sarah to arrange a convenient time to come in.

Regards  Puddleducks Staff Team

Being a member of the Management Committee is incredibly rewarding and gives you a real insight into just how much goes on behind the scenes at Puddleducks. We are also looking for help on the Fundraising committee and our new Policies Committee.

Victoria Goff,

Chair of Management Committee

Thank You

We would like to say thank you to all of the people that were involved in the organising and running of the ‘Pop up Cafes’ during the summer break. They were a great success and were very well attended. The coffee was lovely, cakes were tasty and the sausage rolls were yummy!! It was a fantastic idea and gave people somewhere to meet over the summer and has also raised a fantastic amount for the fundraising account. The monies raised will be used to purchase new equipment, outings and special learning opportunities for the children.

Well done fundraising Committee, looking forward to the cafes over the October half term. If you can like our Facebook page, Community Pop Up Cafe Mulbarton hosed by Puddleducks fundraising Committee, then you will get notification of the dates for October.

Wow Moments

If your child does something at home, however big or small, like learning to ride their bike, swimming, gets dressed on their own, can write their name, can count, or anything that you feel is worthy of sharing, please find the Wow moment sheets in the entrance hall and fill in a star and give to a member of staff, this will then be shared with everyone at carpet time. The Wow sheet will then be placed in the learning story as a memory for later years.

In the entrance hall you will also find a suggestion box, please fill in a slip with any suggestions you may have for activities, trips, visitors you would like to see in group or and other comments you may have about Puddleducks. We value any comments that you as parents/carers make and we will take on board all that is suggested.

If your child has just joined us then we would suggest that you let them settle into Puddleducks for the first term and then look to sign up as a parent helper. Management Committee Update

The AGM in October may seem far away but this year a number of Committee members will be standing down as their children move on to school. It is vital to the Puddleducks staff and children that they have a voluntary committee as legally, without one, the group cannot open it's doors.

If you would like to become more involved in Puddleducks and have a few hours each month to spare, becoming a member of the Management Committee is a great way of keeping in touch with what is going on day to day and behind the scenes. It is also incredibly rewarding and you really can make a positive difference.

If you would like to know more, please don't hesitate to email me at;

Important information regarding the new rules concerning food allergens from 13 December 2014

From 13 December 2014, all food businesses including early years settings and childminders need to provide allergen information on the foods they sell or provide. Food allergens pose a significant risk to consumers with allergic conditions, which may even be life threatening. Children are particularly vulnerable because of their reduced level of control over the foods they eat.

As an early years setting we have a  responsibility to ensure that we provide everyone with information on allergens. This allergen information should be easily accessible and readily available toparents and carers who leave their children with us at Puddleducks.

There are 14 allergens currently listed under food law that we must declare. The 14 allergens can be found on the chart that is on display on the notice board within Puddleducks, along with an explanation of which allergens are found in certain food and whether we serve these foods within the setting. If you require further information on these allergens or need to inform the staff about a change in dietary requirements please speak with Sarah.

Puddleducks Logo Clothes

Puddleducks has its own range of t-shirts, jumpers, cardigans and hoodies with our logo on it via Tesco. These items look great on the children and you don’t have the worry of damaging their own clothing whilst playing. If you follow the link below, choose our county and then scroll down to Puddleducks Playgroup Mulbarton, you can see our range.

Drop off/pick up times

A polite reminder that session finish times are 12pm or 3.30pm.

It is now Playgroup policy that if you collect your child later than 12.15pm or 3.45pm then you will be charged £5.00 for every fifteen minutes.

Also could we please ask that children arrive promptly at 9am

and again at 12.30pm. Register and carpet time is an important part of the daily routine.

Village Hall Car Park

We would like to remind people that the speed limit in the car park is 5mph.

There are lots of children moving about in the car park during drop off and collection times from both playgroups. Please could we remind all parents to observe the 5mph speed limit when entering and leaving the car park.

Gentle reminders

Please could you remember to clearly label all toys, clothes, shoes, wellies, lunch and snack boxes with your child’s name. It saves confusion and frustration as some children have the same or similar things.

Could we also ask that you try to dress your children appropriately and suitably for their day at Puddleducks which often incorporates messy play. Also that all children have a coat or warm jumper for outdoor play and a pair of wellies.

Bad Weather

With winter upon us we would like to ask that you listen to your local radio in the morning or go on line to check for any emergency closures. We always close in-line with Mulbarton Infant & Junior school.

Healthy Eating

Here at Puddleducks we regard snack and meal times as an important part of the childrens day. Please do not pack any chocolate or sweets.

We are unable to refrigerate lunch boxes so if you include items that need to stay cold e.g. yoghurt, please use a cold pack.

Library books

These will be available for all children to see and choose from on a daily basis.  These can be found on the book rack. Please encourage your child to choose a new book and dont forget that any book taken needs to be recorded in the black library records book. This is just to ensure we can keep track of our books. We also have a selection of story sacks for the children to choose from, as with the books, please make sure you record which sack has been taken.

This allergen information should be easily accessible and readily available to parents and carers who leave their children with us at Puddleducks.
